NRG Palafox: “I take two espresso shots 30-40 minutes before the [games start].”
Q: So, NRG had a rough start to the week. What happened in that Game 1 against jojo?
Palafox: I mean, if you actually look at the game, he kind of needed a gank or the game was over. He was super low, I would’ve had TP advantage […] but in hindsight I was just on no caffeine.
Q: Oh, you need to play on caffeine?
Palafox: Like 150 milligrams before every game, [otherwise] I just find it hard to focus. […] Normally drink coke zero or something, I hate coffee. But before games I take two espresso shots 30-40 minutes before the game.
Q: Are you guys figuring out the meta?
Palafox: We’ve been kinda figuring out the meta, but I think right now for a lot of teams it’s really confusing. Like Annie does really well in LPL/LCK, but here Annie in LCS is really really bad.
Q: Other mids have mentioned that the mid meta is super boring, thoughts?
Palafox: It literally feels like you pick to set up your bot lane, and if you pick any greedy champion you’re just a liability to your team. […] ADC one-shots everything, no point being anything but a CC bot.
Q: 100T got destroyed today, do you think they’ll be much better with Quid?
Palafox: I actually expect Nukeduck to have better synergy with Closer than Quid, unless Quid’s english is really good, I guess we’ll see.
Q: Do you think it’s a C9 FLY top 2 right now?
Palafox: Our scrim results against C9 and FLY are actually quite good, and I’m not sure I’d say FLY are a top team, like I think Vicla isn’t that good. He’s their biggest liability, maybe he’s more comfortable on carry champions. It feels like Vicla has this mentality where he’s like “oh I’m so much better than these guys” and he doesn’t play the way he’s supposed to but like, you’ll just lose lane if you do that.
Q: Where would you rank yourself and the other mid laners?
Palafox: I think Jojo is probably the best by a long shot. After that it’s whatever.
Q: Not emenes? The community would probably be surprised by that.
Palafox: But…why? The way you should think about it, jojo literally carries his team every game, or they’d lose. Emenes is already on a winning team, so he can play more aggressive because his team will win. If I remove myself I’d probably have him second, but not as good as jojo.
Favorite Food: Bingsu (because that’s what he was craving)
Favorite game outside of League: Valorant (and he also watches some VCT, to support his friends)
