- He was the Spring 2022 ALL LCK CL midlaner and also the 2022 LCK Rookie of the Year. The battle for 2022 Rookie of the Year was tough but he eventually beat LSB’s support Kim “Kael” Jinhong by 8 points.
- Back in LCK Challengers League there was a meme that says “If you win, it’s because of VicLa. If you lose it’s because of VicLa.” This is because of his bold and aggressive playstyle as well as his tendency to become too excited.
- Used to be a Pantheon one-trick but is now known as a player with a wide champion pool.
- It is remarkable that every time he brings out new picks, he shows good improvement. Korean shoutcaster CloudTemplar regarded him as a “player that the coaching staff would like.”
- At the end of the 2022 Summer Regular Season, he was considered to be the center of KT’s engage playstyle. Aggressive positioning and bold initiatives are considered the second factor in KT’s upward performance trend during Summer.
- He also has a similar playstyle to KT’s previous rookie mid laner, Ucal. They were both evaluated as the last puzzle piece needed by KT, supported by solid physicality based on aggressive plays. Both of their signature picks are Sylas and Ahri.
- Despite being the youngest and new addition to the LCK team, he was very vocal and would often make a lot of calls in game.
- He is the latest member of KT’s golden midlaner lineage: Rookie → Ucal → VicLa. He’s also part of the KT Rolster rookie mid curse, where they’ve produced promising rookies every four years, yet haven’t been able to keep them for more than a year. It started with Rookie (2013) → Ucal (2017) → VicLa (2021).
- He was originally a midlaner for KT Challengers team but was called up to LCK to sub in for Aria during Spring. He started playing more in LCK during Summer and became their starting mid in Round 2 of regular season. His first game in LCK was in 2022 LCK Spring against DRX (March 4, 2022) where they lost 2-0.
- The origin of his name VicLa comes from his real name Daekwang which means “Big Light.” His Korean name Daekwang means Big – 대(형의) + Light 광(선). And if you read the hanggul 빅라 it will be “Big La” which could be shortened for “Big Laiteu (Light).”
- It was also explained in KT’s series ROLSTER BEHIND Episode 4, “The Light at the End of the Tunnel”, that he shortened his name “VicLight” (Big Light) to “VicLa” because it looks more refined (According to Coach Acorn).
- His nickname back in KT was Kwangdae (광대), interchanged form of his given name and it means “clown” in English.
- His Japanese name “Taiko” (大光 in Kanji) (だいこう in Hiragana) which is the Kanji and Hiragana of his Korean name. It could also mean “Powerful Light” or “Great Light.”
- He is half Korean (Father) and half Japanese (Mother). He was the first LCK player to have two nationalities.
- He doesn’t speak Japanese despite having a Japanese mother.
- He used to study English during streams with KT CL Jungler, Bonnie.
- He’s got a 90 TOEIC score (Level 4).
- He tries his best to interact with foreign fans in English during his streams.
- He said that he doesn’t have any favorite songs or artists but Coach Supreme told the team that he likes Kpop girl groups (in KT’s series ROLSTER BEHIND Episode 4, he was caught watching IVE Lee Seo’s individual cam).
- Kim “Life” Jeongmin taught him how to work out back in KT.
- He doesn’t have a fashion sense according to him and fellow teammates.
- Everyone in KT (2022) regarded him as a hardworking and reliable maknae (youngest).
- Kim “Rascal” Kwanghee, KT Rolster’s oldest player and captain said that he has the potential to be one of the best midlaners if he keeps up with his performance.
- He was roommates with Rascal, Cuzz, and Life back in KT.
- He often mentioned and promoted the Monster energy drink in ROLSTER BEHIND episodes even though the brand didn’t sponsor his team.
- He is a fun and outgoing person. He sometimes goes along with his hyungs’ tendencies to poke fun at each other. In one of the episodes of ROLSTER BEHIND, he was caught teasing and pranking Kim “Aiming” Haram.
- As the eldest player in KT, Rascal took good care of him. He would often talk to him before they went to bed and tell him not to get pressured, and that he’s doing a good job.
