TLAW Morgan: “Without Inspired, I think we’re the best team in LCS. But I think it doesn’t count.”
Q: Your English is one of the best I’ve ever seen from a Korean player in their first year of LCS — except UmTi.
Morgan: Really? Thank you. Well, UmTi is … you know, he studied English in school when he was young, yeah. It’s [not fair].
Q: When did you guys see Spiderman as a team?
Morgan: After stage on Sunday.
Q: Nice — a treat after the games. What did you think of the movie?
Morgan: To me, I didn’t watch any Marvel movies after Endgame, Avengers Endgame. So yeah, I was excited to watch a Marvel movie again. It was pretty good.
Q: Any favorite moments or like favorite scenes?
Morgan: When MJ was kissing another man — wait did you watch Spiderman, by the way?
Q: I watched it, don’t worry.
Morgan: When Peter came to their [party] and he saw MJ kissing another man, at this point… that scene broke my heart. Because … *puts hand over heart* I know what’s in his heart. I was [thinking] like, “Buddy…”
Q: Did everyone on the team like the movie?
Morgan: Everyone liked it.
Q: Did anything else stand out to you? I really like Sadie Sink’s acting, I thought she was super good.
Morgan: Jean Grey? Yeah … she’s gorgeous.
Q: Are you going to try and watch more Marvel movies, like Doomsday in December?
Morgan: I [haven’t been] in the mood to watch, after Endgame, the Marvel movies. I only watched, like, Spiderman. That’s why I watched it.
Q: Did the players just want to go? Whose idea was it?
Morgan: Just like the team wants to go, yeah, so we went. […] Jose really wanted to watch the movie, but … I still cannot watch the movie without subtitles in Korean, [even] now. That’s why we went to a Koreatown theater.
Q: Oh, interesting. So you got to watch it with Korean subtitles.
Morgan: Yeah, yeah. I really enjoy watching the movies.
Q: Alright, time for serious questions. Are you the best team in the LCS now? You must be, right?
Morgan: Honestly … Not sure. Because we still need to fix early game setup and just … Honestly, I don’t think —
We are, like, a very good team in LCS, but not number one. think … I feel like it’s not good enough.
Q: On stage, at least, you guys seem miles ahead of everyone else. At least without Inspired. Are the other teams doing better in scrims than on stage?
Morgan: Yeah, but not good as *searching for words* … not as good as us. But yeah … Without Inspired, I think we’re the best team in LCS. But I think it doesn’t count […]
I feel like the most important thing is, like, when you start playoffs.
Q: Besides you and Thanatos — the obvious choices — who are the other top laners you think are strong?
Morgan: Yeah, obviously Thanatos is good. I feel like … [another] good player is Gakgos. And Dhokla, of course.
Q: Dhokla is interesting, because he’s a different style. He doesn’t win lane like you and Thanatos, but he wins game with team very consistently. Is that something you think Korean top laners aren’t as good at, or don’t focus on? Or is it communication issue, maybe?
Morgan: If I win in laning phase and then we lose the game … Honestly, I don’t care about it too much — if I win the laning phase, [properly].
Q: Yeah, if you come out with the right outcome.
Morgan: If I do my job in game, I don’t really care about lose or win. But yeah, make sure we should talk about, “Why did we lose the game, even though top had huge prio or [whatever]?”
Q: Do you feel like you’re usually winning top right now?
Morgan: Yeah, Thanatos is a good player, but not as good as me.
Q: What does TL need to get better at, then, to beat LYON?
Morgan: I’d like to say is early game setup. […] Like [from] one to ten minutes, we still have … there’s something accidental, or [we] make a mistake a lot. Scrims or stage. I think we should fix it and figure out how to [always[ make a good situation in the early game.
Q: Any final message for TL fans, Morgan?
Morgan: Yeah, I feel like you guys already know TL is a best team — or [at least] a good team. Thanks for thinking that. But I think we need to … I think we can get better and better.
