TL Yeon: We have veterans who played in the lane swap meta— I just have Impact saying ‘Why did you do that?!’ *mimics cracking belt*”

Q: How has it been for you and APA adjusting to the stage? [editor’s note: APA is just off camera and Yeon now starts making fun of him]
Yeon: I think Eain (APA) has been the same, same old same. Hasn’t been typing much, he’s a little scaredy cat, he’s not gonna do it. *Grinning and staring at APA off-camera* He’s too much of a scaredy-cat, he can only do it against people who are worse than him. He can only pick on weak people, he refuses to do it against the top players, you know?
Q: How is your confidence overall?
Yeon: I’m confident, it just depends. Here and there I’ve been playing bad individually — *moves mic away to argue with APA* — it just depends on how I do, some games I do well but some games I’m not at my standard.
Q: How are you and the team doing in Chengdu?
Yeon: We’ve been kind of sick lately, there’s been something going around. Besides that, the food is very nice and the hotel is very nice — just a nice place overall, I’d say.
Q: How have scrims been going?
Yeon: Scrims have been going up and down, we’ve had some really good days and some really bad days. For the most part, I’d say we’re fine. The things we want to do are working out well.
Q: You guys drew a pretty —
Yeon: lucky?
Q: — best possible scenario opponent, maybe. More than what was in the reaction video, how do you feel against Jackeylove, one of the ADC legends?
Yeon: I didn’t watch much League of Legends pro when I started playing, I started watching in 2020 or 2021. I don’t really know much about him, he’s just a regular player to me more than a legend— he won Worlds right? 2018? — I watched it but just as a fan, like casually.
Q: How do you feel about your “all-in” performance strategy?
Yeon: It was definitely nice in playoffs, but now I’ve been feeling like I’ve been playing really well some games, and some games I’ve been playing really underwhelming. Sometimes that’s because of my condition or sometimes it’s because I’m just not playing well on the day, so I just have to find that again. [Still,] I’m pretty confident I should do well as long as I can play to my level this time around.
Q: How does it feel for you and Core in 2v2 against top players?
Yeon: For me and Core, I think the things we’ve said and the things we’ve talked about — how lane should go — for the most part were correct, I think our theories on the way every lane should go have, [generally], been correct as long as we’re playing well. Sometimes we make mistakes, sometimes we play well, but for the most part I think the way we think about the game has been correct, in lane phase at least.
Q: Did you end up watching FLY in play-ins?
Yeon: Just snippets, we’ve been scrimming or sometimes I’m in a solo queue game. I did hear about the results though […] I mean, losing a 17 minute game is pretty rough, I’d say.
Q: That said, how do you feel about TL’s chances?
Yeon: Realistically, I don’t think we’re out, we definitely have a chance. It won’t be easy, you know? We’re definitely the underdogs coming in but I think we have a chance.
Q: How does it feel to be at MSI as a team?
Yeon: It definitely feels great to be here, like the place is nice and the food is nice. As a team I think we’re learning a lot, trying to make sure we keep our patience as some days go bad and some days go well. The most important thing is we try to get the most experience we can and do the best we can here, and eventually try to do something in Summer and at Worlds.
Q: What about your approach as a 1v9 carry, is that the same?
Yeon: Hard to say, because it definitely might be a different meta than what I try to do. In playoffs it was much easier to do that kind of thing. https://t.co/Ob6EwIjtI7
Q: Does the quality of other ADC’s factor in?
Yeon: Maybe, but the difference in champions I might be playing, [and] with all the lane swaps and stuff.
Q: Speaking of, we dodged lane swaps in LCS, how have you adjusted to that?
Yeon: It’s definitely a lot more confusing, at the start I was very confused, but now I’ve learned a lot, so I’m very confident if we lane swap or get lane swapped on.
We have veterans who played in the lane swap meta— I just have Impact saying [in reviews] “Why did you do that?!” *mimics cracking belt* “Why weren’t you here?” and I’m like “Oh shit I didn’t know my bad. First time.” He doesn’t see it in game because he’s getting 1v3 dove.
