TL CoreJJ: “Scrims were [getting] better, but I think this week’s scrims were way worse […] it shows that we didn’t play well.”

Q: What happened? Were you expecting a chance to lose today?
CoreJJ: I think we had a really poor performance. There’s no excuse. We played really bad. They played better than us.
Q: Do you think it was significantly worse than how you played last week, or do you think you still aren’t where you wanna be in general?
CoreJJ: I mean, it was worse than last week. And overall, yeah — today I played at a very unacceptable level, with how I could do. And it was pretty hard to keep tracking during the game.
Q: What do you think happened? Was it just all TL falling apart, or did they just have the right tools to exploit your guys’ weak points?
CoreJJ: First of all, LYON is not a bad team. Well, we should have won. They’re playing with a sub top laner too. We should have more experience, of course, but our individual play and decision making were both bad.
Q: There’s not a lot of time before the best of fives. Assuming that the upper bracket is your goal, what do you think you have to do to make it there as a team?
CoreJJ: Honestly, I don’t mind who we play versus, but we really need to play better. I think we need to improve. That’s more important.
Q: I heard that your scrims are getting better. Do you agree with that?
CoreJJ: Well, scrims were [getting] better, but I think this week’s scrims were way worse, so I was a bit nervous. I think it shows that we didn’t play well.
Q: Why do you think this week’s scrims were bad?
CoreJJ: I mean, sometimes it happens. There’s a new patch coming out, and there’s always up and down. I think, right now is just a down moment.
Q: Do you think Yunara is actually that strong, or is Yeon just really good at the champ and other people don’t really know how to deal with it yet?
CoreJJ: I think the champion is pretty strong, so we picked it. Even … *smiles* I practiced Yunara a lot, and Yeon always practiced it a lot too.
Q: Do you think that was valuable practice for you? (Are you gonna play Yunara support?)
CoreJJ: I think whenever there is a new champion, understanding of champions is important. I think we understand champions better than other teams.
Q: Lyonz said he considers you the best support in the league and was a fan of you early in his career. Thoughts on facing him today?
CoreJJ: I kinda disappointed him today. The laning was kind of fine today, but overall, I think I didn’t perform well.
Q: How does it feel to face players who grew up watching you?
CoreJJ: Not sure if he grew up watching me and learning or something, but yeah. I don’t know. If there’s any player [learning from] how I play, then they give me more motivation.
Q: It motivates you to have players look up to you, basically?
CoreJJ: Yeah. Then I need to play better. I don’t want the performance [I had] today.
Q: How has the team felt now that you’ve had some time with Yuuji?
CoreJJ: I think it’s pretty solid. He’s doing his job, and then we get to understand [where he can improve] and [help him] adapt to the team. We still need time, but it’s gonna get better.
Q: What do you think FLY (and C9, assuming you think FLY is better) are doing better than you guys?
CoreJJ: I think FlyQuest is better than C9, and I think they just play a more natural game than us. When there’s food, they just eat. When there’s a dirty dish, they wash the dishes.
Q: What do you think makes you guys confused then? A lot of people view TL as this team that you and Impact run.
CoreJJ: If that’s the case, they’re just thinking about the wrong way. But I think in League of Legends, everyone needs to play their own job. […] It’s gonna be really laggy if you tell your leg, “Try to go forward,” and say “Put your hand up.”
There’s always a delay, and then it’s gonna look awkward. We are playing a very awkward game.
Q: Why do you think the game is awkward for you guys?
CoreJJ: I mean, there are a lot of reasons. We’re not performing well, but I think going to the basics, we’re just not playing League of Legends well, so we are losing.
Q: Yeon mentioned that when Yuuji came in, he started using a lot more zoomer terms with him. Does he ever confuse you with some new brainrot terms?
CoreJJ: No. Sometimes I get confused, but I think I’m young enough.
Q: He said that he always sends you TikToks that you never understand.
CoreJJ: I mean, TikTok is different. […] I’m not using TikTok.
