Q: Talk about the move to bench Tomio.
Wildturtle: It’s about working on our fundamentals, I think we’ve lost a lot of our level of play over the weeks. We’re spending our break working on our fundamentals to try and play to that level. Bugi has been coaching us we’re hoping he brings a lot of that macro he’s been working on [as a coach] onto the team.
Q: How has coaching been for you?
Wildturtle: I’d done some coaching back in season 1, a little more casually, but this is my first time coaching a pro team and I like it a lot. It’s just as hard — maybe harder — than being a pro player, since sometimes I’m watching the team mess up things we’ve worked on, and my hair goes white.
Q: How are the team vibes doing?
Wildturtle: The team all gets along really well, the vibes on the team are really great, but sometimes I wish they’d fight a little more. I have to be the guy that starts things. Right now I’m the only one that’s willing to kind of attack the players, but that’s okay. I’m fine being that guy if I have to be. I need to remind them that we’re 0-3 in the LCS right now. I don’t want to go out as some team that didn’t do anything.
Q: Do you have any fun stories about the team recently?
Wildturtle: Tomio’s been working out, it’s pretty funny to watch how [focused] he is — he’s eating chicken and rice every day. At the start he was probably only lifting 15 pounds and now he’s up to like 30.
Q: Any message to the fans?
Wildturtle: I want to tell everyone that bugis name is from the name of Squirtle in Korean.
(Note: He would’ve already known this if he went to Bugi’s LCSprofiles page!)
