MU Zyko: “I’m really excited to play, more excited than nervous. This is the biggest, most intense match I’ve ever played.”

Q: You were power ranked really low, how does it feel being here after that doubt?
Zyko: I think we were ranked low because people didn’t know what our roster would be — like, we didn’t know up until the day before NACL started. To be here after all of those shenanigans, it definitely feels nice to prove people wrong, to show them that we’re a lot better than people think we are. It feels really nice.
Q: What do you think let you guys surpass expectations?
Zyko: I think we practice a lot harder. We come into scrims with a plan instead of just playing for fun or playing with no intention.
Q: You 3-0’d TLC but 3-2 against DSG, do you think DSG is the better team?
Zyko: Yeah for sure, but in the DSG series we should’ve won Game 1 and Game 2, we kinda just played for fun and we went into that series a bit too relaxed. Like “we could do whatever we want and win”.
Q: How do you feel about your support matchup vs Chime?
Zyko: I feel like Chime is very talented, he’s been in LCS before and I thought going into this split that he would definitely be the #1 support, and I’d be up there somwhere, and I still think that, but we have two different playstyles. He’s more of the roam type guy finding timers when I play to punish the [enemy] bot lane in laning phase. But I think he does a really good job, and out of every support I’ve played against, I think Chime has been the best.
Q: What about the bot 2v2 overall?
Zyko: I feel like me and ScaryJerry are definitely a lot better than Sajed and Chime because they don’t really play through bot well. I don’t think Sajed is the type of guy to call for things or resources, which I think ScaryJerry has done a really good job at. And plus the mathcups we take are more volatile and bot-centric than the bot lane mathcups taht they take, which are more scaling matchups, trying to not to die in lane. So I think we definitely have the upper hand in bot lane.
Q: How does Fearless draft affect those matchups?
Zyko: Fearless definitely [helps us], like Jerry plays a lot of different champions and can play them really, really well. Even like in Game 5 fearless, he still calls for resources no matter what champ he’s on.
Q: Do you have any fun facts about your team?
Zyko: Oh, like Niles, if we’re losing, he’ll [try to hype us up] by telling us like “Focus up” “Lock in” and slapping us on the back really hard. It’s like really, really hard.
