LYON Oddie: “Whatever happens in the tournament, I think I’m really proud of the team.”

"This year, really unlucky things happened to us. [The format] also gave us a really, really hard, tournament. But for now, we just want to fight and we get whatever we can get. "

Q: Considering all the turmoil for LYON, how are you feeling about the Bo3 stage?

Oddie: I mean, I’m okay right now. We [faced] the top 1, 2, and 3 teams from the league in these 3 weeks. So I don’t know. I’m now kinda thinking what would happen if we had Srtty or Zamudo in the first week against C9. I feel kinda weird, to be honest.

If we had even more time together, I think we [could’ve been] a really big problem for them.

Q: Is Zamudo going to have his visa for next week? And if he does, will Srtty play, or Zamudo?

Oddie: It’s not that confirmed, but that I know of, Srtty’s gonna keep playing, obviously.

I think he’s not that confirmed — at least for playoffs … I don’t know. Now it depends on the team because, now we are playing with Srtty [we’ve shown] that we can fight good teams. So I don’t know. It’s up to the the organization.

Obviously, it depends on the visa thing if Zamudo can go or not. But we are right now a six man roster, so it’s gonna depend on what the team thinks.

Q: Is Zamudo scrimming at all?

Oddie: He’s not scrimming right now. [With Srtty], before TL we had 3 days — or 2 days, I don’t remember — [of scrims]. And then now, obviously, we had 5 days with Srtty to scrim.

So I think we are [in a good place]. Obviously, again, this split is really short, so it’s not like we [have time]. It’s kinda messed up with how the split is. I mean, we had som issues, with the Visa thingy. [But still], this year is not … We are not a lucky team.

Q: Have you thought about sticking together next year? Maybe scaling a bit longer together?

Oddie: We talked about it a little. Just a little [about] what we want to do next year — obviously it was a question in the air.

Like, “What would you guys want to do next year?”. Because this year, really unlucky things happened to us. [The format] also gave us a really, really hard, tournament. But for now, we just want to fight and we get whatever we can get. And then I think if the results are good enough for the organization, maybe [we can] just be a team together next year. I think a few players are gonna stay because their contract is gonna be for the next year also. […]

But this is gonna be depending on results, you know? For example, if we lose in the loser bracket versus, I don’t know, DSG. Obviously, we need to make changes.

So it’s gonna be depending on that. But I feel really comfortable with them. I feel like if we have more decisive teamfights — which is we lacked today, I think — we really have a [chance]. I think FlyQuest has the best teamfights because [they] just trust each other so much that doesn’t matter if they’re mispositioning or something; they just know what to do.

In the game one, I think we have a winning situation. Like, we can’t fight the Drake, but we just don’t do anything. We just look at them and make them come to us, and we go and press the trigger or or do something. But I feel like, if we have that confidence that we can fight on our terms like we do in scrims, I think we can really, really beat the top 3.

That I’m really confident [about]. Whatever happens in the tournament, I think I’m really proud of the team. Obviously, like I said, it was a really unlucky thing.

Like, the visa is tough, and we’re facing changes every time. We can be together if we [achieve good] results this split.

Q: Have you and Saint still been playing other games together?

Oddie: Right now, we’re not, to be honest. We just go out to eat pho on Saturdays with Zamudo, because Zamudo likes pho so much. Also maybe we’re going with Srtty this week because his girlfriend is from Vietnam, I think.

He told me that he likes pho also, so we told him to come on Saturday, because he lives [nearby].

Q: So you and Saint just go get pho together pretty often?

Oddie: No, that’s [just] when we have a free day, so we want to go eat. And then after eating, we just do whatever we want. […] There’s a lot of good food. Right now, I think last week, we were about to go to a pho place, but I think we saw a Japanese place, so we said, “Okay, let’s try it.” It was a ramen place, because I think we all love soup. It was way overpriced, but it was pretty good.

Q: Everything in LA is expensive.

Oddie: I know. Yeah. But this this place was way more [expensive]. And with [pho] I feel like it’s a huge plate. Every everyone is also cheap and it’s really fucking good. So I think tomorrow we’re just gonna go eat pho.

Q: Not planning on going out to dinner with the team today?

Oddie: I’m not sure. I think we talked about if we win today, we would go out. But we didn’t talk about [what we would do] if we lose.

I know today, we’re not going to do the review because the games were pretty long. I think the coaches need to see the game longer. We have a new rule that after a match, we’re gonna watch the game, so we are fresh from the game. But I feel like that today, we say, “No, we’re not gonna do it,” because it was pretty long game. I think we just want to relax for for our next scrims. I think, Monday, we’re gonna scrim. So, yeah, I think that’s the plan.

Q: You’re probably not supposed to be in the losers bracket, but who do you think is the weakest team here?

Oddie: I think, the weakest should be DSG. At least in scrims, we have no issue with them. Like, really no issue.

Q: Is it because Saint is your highest performing player and DARKWINGS is a rookie?

Oddie: I think it’s everybody. […] We just get a lead by ourselves, so I feel like, there’s no question about it. Obviously, I’m basing my thoughts on the scrims. […] I think the players are good, but I’ve seen them playing scrims, and we have no issue with them.

And then Dignitas, I think they’re pretty good — I think they are decent. The thing with 100T is kinda weird, you know? In scrims, usually, [you get told] they want to play more clean or more a collective as a team.

But it feels like the the scrims are kinda the same. Like, we scrimmed against Dhokla, [and] we knew Sniper wasn’t going to play. I don’t know what decision they’re gonna make, but at least my top laners say Dhokla is not an issue. [He’s] not an issue for them, so I’m very confident.

[Against SR], at least, 100T seemed a little bit better better than what we’ve seen last week. But it wasn’t enough. I think the second game was a draft issue. If you have all losing lanes and River, who wants to make plays, he just cannot do anything. The game is so hard. […] It was really miserable. I just saw him getting invaded every time, and he just couldn’t do anything.

So I feel there’s two faces with 100T — it’s kinda weird. I wouldn’t ever say 100T is the worst team. I think Palafox was [exaggerating] a little too much saying that.

Q: You saw my interview? I thought it was pretty spicy.

Oddie: It was spicy, but I don’t think that’s the case. But I know that they’re having issues, so I will just [say that]. They have issues. So I feel like the worst should be DSG.

And between Dignitas and 100T […] I don’t even know which is closer, but I think they’re kinda the same. But I think Dignitas are playing more as a team, so [they are stronger than DSG for Sunday].

Q: I’ve heard a lot of good things about Rahel and Ido, DSG’s coach.

Oddie: I also hear that sometimes, like Hena talking about Rahel. He thinks he’s okay. I think he’s fine. I also hear about the coaches, but, like, I’m basing my thoughts on the scrims. But I saw the game this week vs Shopify. I think they played that match pretty well. But I don’t know what face is going to show tomorrow.
