G2N Toasty: “It felt pretty bad intruding [on the G2 LEC team] when they were losing to Los Ratones.”

"It's something that I haven't taken as much advantage of, actually asking Caps what he's thinking during certain time points or for more tips because... he's a bit scary. He's got aura."

Interview conducted after G2 Nord’s first victory against Witchcraft, March 13, 2026.

Q:  How did it feel facing Nemesis?

Toasty: Nemesis is a really strong player and he’s really good. In lane, I didn’t have a very impressive performance. I think [Witchcraft] didn’t show up too well. We just did a good job at playing to our strengths, in terms of team fighting.

I respect [Nemesis] a lot and he’s like a really good player. I think he kind of has this aura because he [leans] away from the meta champs that are considered right now. It feels like he has a completely different champ pool than all the other players. It’s a challenging experience, [playing versus] champs I’m not used to playing against.

Q: How come he’s the one with the weird pool? Did you scrim them? You’re the one playing Mel-Akali, he’s on relatively normal champs, right?

Toasty: We haven’t scrimmed them, but we can watch their scrims because they stream all of them. He doesn’t have prio on Azir and Orianna, stuff like that. They banned Orianna in all three games. They gave Azir and hand-shook Anivia, which I didn’t consider a very good matchup, but obviously, we lost on it.

I don’t know, his pool is just a little bit different than all the other mid laners.

Q: What was the mindset after Game 1? It felt like such a crushing loss, and sort of expected because of their level of experience.

Toasty: They felt strong when they had the momentum, right? They were making a lot of smaller mistakes, [but] we were over-playing, overcompensating on a lot of things and just doing too much. The game felt really suffocating but I don’t think we were too devastated after Game 1 — at least me, personally, I knew we had a good chance of winning. […]

Game 2, they were really strong [but] they kind of threw a big lead. They did a good job of finding picks [around] the map when we’re rotating – especially on me, I had a pretty bad mid game – but they’re definitely beatable.

Game 1, lane was like pretty AFK because just that that’s how the matchup was, but as a team they kind of ran us on the map. Game 3, the lane was mega rough.

[It’s Akali vs Hwei]. I kind of trolled my first three levels, and then he just spawns in 2-0 with double buffs. […] He stays in lane for an extra five waves and just throws shit at me unpunished. So, the lane was mega hard. But, we just fought team fights really well and made sure we were in good conditions for objective fights and got me back in the game.

Q: Since the ERL format is kind of dogshit, that win didn’t mean anything. Thoughts on the rematch?

Toasty: They’re definitely not an easy team to beat, and we both made a lot of mistakes — neither team was playing super well. So it depends on how we show up on the day, and how they show up on the day.

Now that they lost one, it’s kind of a wake up call for them. And maybe they’ll play cleaner, or like maybe they won’t. I think if we show up, play our game, and become a bit cleaner, I don’t see why we can’t beat them again.

Q: Moving past Witchcraft, you’re going to be playing in-person for ERLs this year. Did you play in-person at Maryville very long?

Toasty: Yeah, I was at Maryville for maybe a year.

Q: You’re at the same facility as the main G2 team. How much do you interact with them?

Toasty: I usually eat with them, because it’s catered food. So naturally, I am eating in the same space. In the morning they do exercise every day, [and] before matches they play spike ball. I join along as well because it’s good for me to move around.

Q: Do you get in-house scrims, 1v1s?

Toasty: Yeah, we had a couple of chances to scrim them. Before their matches, we also warm them up [with] a game or two, or we would play some blitz scrims. Stuff like that.

Q: Blitz scrims?

Toasty: Yeah, usually they would have like an hour where they would eat, doing their team activity, draft prep, stuff like that. Usually an hour or so before they [leave for the arena] they like to warm up a bit.

Q: Blitz scrims are everyone playing hard and fast?

Toasty: It’s more like you play the game out until 15 minutes and then you just GG, and go to the next game. They can get better draft info, or lane info, […] They can go through the lines that they think are gonna happen during the matches.

Q: You’ve played quite a bit against Caps now, a mid laner a lot of people look up to. How does it feel playing against him?

Toasty: In scrims, he’s kind of like an ego checker. He plays on the limit a lot.

Early on, there were times where I got really piss ran, and then sometimes I would win and it would feel really good — but in the back of my head, I’m thinking “Ah, he’s just limit testing and dying a lot.”

He’s a great player and I have a lot to learn from him. So, it’s a good experience to be here.

Q: Does it feel like he respects you more now?

Toasty: I feel like he does it to everybody. We get access to their scrims, and we watch the stuff and I don’t really see a difference in gameplay.

[Caps] just plays very consistently and most of the time he’s consistently a psycho.

Q: How helpful does having scrim access for such a highly rated team feel? For someone considered LCS ready, do you feel yourself improving?

Toasty: It’s for sure helpful. [From] a development standpoint, it’s helpful. Also from a performance standpoint, knowing their meta reads, knowing what champs they think are strong –  just being able to go and ask them and they’ll be like, oh yeah, I think this is strong, this is meta. It’s really helpful for our performance in ERLs.

Watching all their scrims versus the LEC teams is helpful. We get to listen to their comms, and can ask what they’re thinking.

It’s something that I haven’t taken as much advantage of, actually asking Caps what he’s thinking during certain time points or for more tips because… he’s a bit scary. He’s got aura.

I’m definitely more on the introverted side, so I’m slowly warming up to the players.

They also didn’t have a great winter split when I first got here, so it felt pretty bad intruding when they were losing to Los Ratones. I felt like I needed to give them space to let them fix the issues they were having. For sure I was gonna try and reach out more after they come back from the international.

Q: After they win First Stand, right?

Toasty: Yeah, after they win First Stand.

Q: Will you be getting revenge against Witchcraft on G2’s behalf?

Toasty: [Laughing] I mean, I thought about it. Maybe I’ll tweet about it if we win tomorrow, but… Eh, I don’t really know. We show up and we play.
