FLY Massu: “Normally, [100T] have been better than this. But I think today, I felt like they were pretty nervous.”

(Interview conducted right after FLY vs 100, Week 4, Day 1)
Q: Did you feel like 100T kind of fell over and died against you today?
Massu: Normally, they’ve been better than this. But I think today, I felt like they were pretty nervous. […] Maybe, like, they’re not nervous, and that’s just my assumption. But usually when I play against them, they try to find more angles. They make more plays. They’re more cohesive together. But today, I felt like everybody was just trying to farm and not die. The first game, we had three losing lanes, and it didn’t really feel like we did.
Q: Would you still put 100T in your top four? Can LYON take that spot from them?
Massu: I think so. I mean, I would say 100 Thieves is really inconsistent. I think at times, they could be, like, the second or third best team, and at other times, they could be fifth or sixth. […] They’re just super inconsistent. So, honestly, I do think LYON is probably in my top four, and then 100 Thieves depending on the day is either third or fifth.
Q: So then you think LYON > TL today?
Massu: I think it’s gonna be close. I think, generally, I am biased towards TL just because the past year we’ve had against them, we’ve played so many games together. And I really thought they were a super good team, especially last year at MSI and last year at Worlds.
But I do think right now they’re nowhere near where they were last year, so that’s kind of disappointing. I think LYON could take the series, but I would still expect TL to win if they play properly. […] I would say, like, 2-1 TL.
Q: What went wrong against C9 last week? Did you just play better today?
Massu: I mean, for sure today, we played pretty well. I think we did a lot better than last week. In last week’s game against C9, I think draft kind of went a bit astray from what we had planned originally, which kind of threw us off. Some points in the game, I think we didn’t do that bad — we fought when it was good for us to fight, we contested them where we should have.
Maybe sometimes we gave them too much space on the map, and they had a lot of room to play. But I think, last week, we maybe felt a bit nervous. We felt a bit desperate at times. So then, we didn’t know exactly what fights were winning and what fights weren’t. And I think, individually, we just didn’t play that well against C9.
Q: What do you think of Zven’s level and Zven / Vulcan in general?
Massu: I think for sure, they’ve been playing really well, individually and as a duo. I think they’ve been doing pretty well. Zven, I think, this split, I’ve seen him carry harder than I have in the past.
Before, I’d say he was more of a pretty safe, stable ADC. He’ll just farm to get his items, but he won’t create situations that will win you the game. But I think this split, he’s been doing that a lot more, and he’s just a lot more of a consistent carry. And I can feel the pressure when he is fed or when he does have his items. I think Zven and Vulcan have been playing pretty well.
Q: Would your ranking of the top 4-5 bot lane duos be different from how you would rank individual ADCs?
Massu: I think more or less, it’d be the same. Although, I can think of a team or two where I do think there is a bit of a disparity between the individual performance and their performance as a duo. But, it’s best not to say maybe.

Q: What do you think of this draft between TL and LYON game one?
Massu: … I mean, Nocturne Xerath is a decent pick into Azir. I think, honestly, both comps look pretty good. I think TL, overall, has more winning lanes. They shouldn’t be able to get objectives early, and they should, like, try to fight around Grubs, Drake, stuff like that. But LYON’s comp is also pretty good — they scale really well. They have Nocturne, who can engage, and then Zeri and Rakan who also have a lot of damage, and they have Xerath who can poke. So it kind of forces TL to look to make an engage at some point.
And, I think when I look at both of them, I do like TL’s draft a bit more. They have more agency early game. If they play their timers properly, and they have good tempo, and they fight objectives, I think they can win. […] I mean, if TL doesn’t properly pressure early on, and Zeri and Xerath get their items, then it could be a pretty hard game for them.
Q: What’s your ADC tier list? We’re putting Massu in S Tier, I assume.
Massu: I don’t like doing tier lists, honestly.
Q: You could just tell me who you think is better than who.
Massu: But that’s like … I don’t think about people like that, honestly. Like, I think about who’s good and then, like, who’s super good, stuff like that. […] I mean, I would put myself in ‘good’ right now with my current [form]. Then I think, I don’t know. I guess, everyone else can go in super good.
Q: Everyone else can go in super good? No offense, but we’re putting ScaryJerry in super good?
Massu: Scary Jerry has good moments for sure. I see potential. I don’t know, it’s just hard for me to create tier lists without, like, shitting on people, so.

Q: Any final message to the fans? You got Shopify next week. I don’t think you’re worried. Is this just, like, a chill week? Go to the beach, like, no scrims?
Massu: No no, definitely not. I think no matter who we’re against, especially in the Bo3 fearless, we have to take practice very seriously, [and] we have to take the games very seriously. I think Shopify, honestly, even though their record is not the best, I think if you do give them an advantage, they can use it well.
And, you know, like, if we do make too many mistakes, I think they can beat us, of course. Any team can. So, now we’re just gonna do the same — we’re just gonna practice hard, focus on maybe practicing more best of fives, because we don’t have practice for that like in LPL or LCK.
