FLY Massu: “If we do kind of fall out, maybe our honeymoon phase is over, then I can just run down one game and then kill him.”

Q: What did you think of ScaryJerry’s level of play this game?
Massu: I think he played pretty well. I think he wasn’t scared of poking us, he wasn’t scared of using his champ well — so I think that was good from him. Overall, though, I don’t know. I need to watch the game back because I think I played pretty bad. I was more focused on what I was doing.
Q: Many considered him the worst ADC going into this split. Do you think that holds up?
Massu: I don’t think he’s the worst ADC. I mean, I think it’s hard to really level everyone or put them on a tier list, but I don’t think he’s the worst.
Q: Would you consider yourself the best?
Massu: I think right now, the level I’m playing at, I wouldn’t consider myself the best. I would say I have the potential to if I can, play up to my level. But right now, I think Yeon is the best ADC.
Q: Busio signed you up for 2v2s with Yeonjj after your match. Did this happen?
Massu: Unfortunately, no. It didn’t happen. […] I’m not sure. I think, shame on Alan for not living up to his promise, but, I don’t know if we can 2v2 today. But maybe sometime this week.
Q: Speaking of, you recently put his life on the line if you lose a game. What’s that about?
Massu: I mean, I did sign him up for it just because that would make him and me — and everyone on the team — try that much harder every game.
Q: Because everyone likes him? Who would you replace him with?
Massu: Yeah, of course. And then, you know, if we do kind of fall out, maybe our honeymoon phase is over, then I can just run down one game and then kill him. So, that’s also a plus. […]
I mean, he’s, irreplaceable, so I can’t say [who would replace him].
Q: Last night I saw you get on League, queue up Arena. And then a few hours later I saw you playing more Arena. Is this a new strat to only play Arenas?
Massu: I don’t know if I’m only playing Arenas, but yesterday and two days ago I did play a lot of Arena — just because it was one day before the match. We scrimmed, and then I played a few games of solo queue.
The match is coming up, I prefer to do something more relaxing, [so] I have time to process everything I did that week or the learnings and stuff. So, this time, I decided to just chill and play Arena and see how that feels. And, you know, it might have worked out, might have not. But, I don’t know if I would have still played solo queue during that time, because a day before the match or on match day, I kind of prefer to keep my head clear.
Q: What do you do to relax/hang out with the team otherwise?
Massu: It ranges from a lot of stuff. Maybe we might go out with a team and do something — play some pickleball, or eat together. Or, sometimes I just get on Discord with my school friends and then maybe play a different game, maybe just talk. That usually helps me relax.
Q: Do you have a favorite memory with the team recently?
Massu: There’s been a lot, honestly. I think in Brazil, it was pretty funny to see —
Basically, everyone on our team is, like, a huge meat eater. I don’t know if that’s the greatest word, but, everyone likes steak and stuff like that. And then when we were in Brazil, that’s kind of all we had for about a week or two. And then I just saw, one by one, each one of them just get sick of it, and it was a bit funny to see. […]
I don’t know if I would say vegan, but beef was definitely low on the list at some point.
Q: What level would you say you’re at as a team?
Massu: I think, honestly, since Brazil and since playing our last official match, we went through a lot of different phases. We had a lot of issues that we had to talk about and come clear about, kind of sit down together as a team and actually talk to each other and say, “Oh, we think this is an issue that has gone unnoticed or ignored for too long and we should fix it by doing this, this, and that.” A lot of it kind of came down to stuff like communication mostly.
We’ve been working on that for the past however many weeks, and I think we’ve improved a good bit. I think we haven’t fully shown how much we’ve improved. Honestly, right now, I would put us as the [best] team.
Q: Any trashtalk for Sniper in the 100T matchup next week?
Massu: Honestly, I’ll leave that to Bwipo, because he always has some words for Sniper somehow. But, yeah, I think, a 100T and Shopify are both, like, nothing to disrespect. We have to still take both games very seriously and actually try our hardest to win.
And, you know, Shopify’s got Tanner [@damonte] now. So…
Q: Did you see your card on LTART?
Massu: I did, […] I hadn’t seen the whole website, but it looks pretty nice. Honestly, all the cards are super well-made. I think everyone that drew all of these is super talented, so big shout-out to them.
