DIG Tomo: “Split two we’ll do much better. I think we’re slowly ramping up.”

tomo 1

Q: Is it frustrating to deal with such a brutal format and elimination?

Tomo: I guess the way I see it is, Split 1, with how the format is, I know it’s always gonna be rocky and rough to compete at a high level because we’re just a brand new roster, and we have a lot of inexperienced players. So I think going in, we had the expectation that we’re just trying to learn. Split 1, you aren’t allowed to really make mistakes because of how brutal the format is. At least, I’m satisfied that on stage today, we played decent, I guess.

We fought back, we put up a fight […] they’re pretty decent teams, so I’m at least happy that we did decent on stage.

Q: That said, what’s your goal as a team/player this year?

Tomo: Hopefully, top 2, because my goal is to get redemption for Worlds. I hope I can make top 2, so I can at least attend Worlds. Obviously, it’s gonna be tough because it’s only two spots.

Q: Does that mean you’re looking at a Korea bootcamp?

Tomo: I think we’re in talks about Korea, but I don’t think it’s finalized or anything. It’s still very early, but that’d be cool. We’ve still been thinking about competition this whole time, so [we] haven’t really thought out much.

Q: Do you have any personal offseason plans? Outside of League?

Tomo: Well, I think you can’t really be burnt out with this format because you only play 3 stage games. So I think everyone’s still very motivated. I think we just need to, with our downtime, just realize what we can be doing better — just individually, because I think we make a lot of individual mistakes. Lane swaps are really prevalent, and we still fucked that up even though we practice it every day. So just reviewing small stuff like that, I think it adds a lot to the team overall.

Q: You led shotcalling on previous teams, are you leading lane swap decisionmaking?

Tomo: I think we’re all just learning as we go along. With the new wave changes, […] a lot of the old lane swap tactics don’t really work anymore. I think everyone’s just trying to optimize as much as they can, I think no team is particularly ahead in that. I think FLY and TL, aren’t that insane at swaps, they’re just decent. It was just watching a lot of VODs and learning how to lane swap, when we have specific champs like Elise or like K’sante, stuff like that.

Q: How well do you think your former team, 100T, will do in Brazil?

Tomo: I think with the Fearless format, I think 100T definitely has an edge because I think Quid is just really flexible with a lot of his picks, and he’s really creative player. Other teams don’t really have the flexibility that Quid has. Also, a lot of times in draft they’re band-aid banning champs because they can’t play a matchup, or they’re uncomfortable playing a specific champ on stage. So I think 100T definitely benefited from that.

And, I don’t know, I feel like FLY also kinda lost their edge a bit, maybe because they didn’t boot camp in the beginning of December or whenever the other teams did. I don’t think they’re too insane right now. I think 100T is better definitely better in form.

Q: Message to the fans?

Tomo: Split two we’ll do much better. I think we’re slowly ramping up. Maybe try to get top three? Yeah. At least, let’s try to get top three in in split two.
