CFO Driver: “This is my first Worlds tournament […] I’m very proud of that [performance].”

"This is my first Worlds tournament — and my first game — and I played really well. I'd like to give credit to myself."

Q: How confident were you going into this match?

Driver: So before today’s game, to be honest, we didn’t have that much confidence because we didn’t really have super good scrims but it was different on stage. I think we’re always this kind of team — sometimes we play poorly in scrims, but we’re able to perform normally on stage.

Also, this is my first World Championship so I wanted to play without nervousness and tried to show my talents. I’m quite happy about the result.

Q: Did scrimming LPL teams for the last months make FNC far easier by comparison?

Driver: I think there is [an impact]. First of all, if you keep practicing against teams that are not that strong, you might make some big mistakes, but they don’t have the strength to punish you. If you practice against stronger teams, they will definitely punish you and you’ll realize, ah, we can’t play like this.

If you always scrim against weaker teams, you can keep repeating those mistakes. Then when you get on stage and you face off against those kinds of very strong teams, it’s too late. You can think of it like this.

Q: Individually, FNC looked a lot worse than you guys this game. Do you agree?

Driver: In game, I try to calm down and really have a good mentality. I try not to be too excited even after getting kills because that can easily affect your judgment on the rest of the game.

But after the game, I was very excited and very hyped because I think I had a very good performance on stage and was able to really grab some good opportunities.

The opponents seemed like they didn’t realize that could be the key point in the game so I got this chance to punish them. This is my first Worlds tournament — and my first game — and I played really well. I’d like to give credit to myself. I’m very proud of that and I feel like it’s a very good start to the tournament.

Q: If you had to pick three other players from other regions to do the World Finals opening ceremony performance with you, who would you pick?

Driver: First, I’ll pick Bwipo because he’s definitely a very interesting person. He has some fun celebrations. *mimes the wide Bwipo walking motion*

The second one should be Doran because he’s a player I really like. Sometimes he does really funny and interesting things, so I’d also like to dance together with him.

Third, I think I should pick 369 because he’s a very good person, very easygoing. I haven’t seen him dance, but I feel like he could be a very good dancer.

Q: Who do you think will make it to that 1-0 group with you? Who do you want to face most in the next round of Swiss and why?

Driver: I’ll go through them one by one. T1 versus FLY, I feel like T1 will advance because T1 is super strong. They’re always a really scary team.

For HLE versus AL, [I’ll give it to AL] because I think they are a very stable team and they should have very good prep in terms of the best of ones.

Then for G2 versus Top Esports, I think TOP should be the stronger one. This year they evolved and improved a lot so they should have the better chance.

PSG versus GENG. GENG is just too strong. They will definitely qualify to the next round.

So the team I’d want to face off against tomorrow should be… T1, because we played against T1 before in a best of five where, you know, we lost by just one game. So if we play them in a BO1, we have a chance to take that one game back.
