100T River: “Why’s [UmTi] so mad? […] I’m gonna fuck APA again, of course. And maybe I’ll fuck Yeon too.”

Q: Okay, do you have any other fun facts about your team? You can make fun of them if you want.
River: Okay, @GeneralSniper is always [scrolling] Twitter and looking at girls, and when he plays well he watches Doublelift [and other costreamers] after games to see what they say.
Q: How did you feel about NRG going into today?
River: Nothing to say. We for sure win this series, I didn’t think there [was a chance] that we lose.
Q: So what went wrong in Game 4?
River: Sniper, at the last Baron fight, just tp’d bot and tried to end, but he overstayed.
Q: Now that you’ll have time to recover, who do you think you’ll face from TL vs DIG?
River: I think for sure Team Liquid
Q: That means it’d be you vs UmTi, did you see what he said about you?
River: Why’s [UmTi] so mad? I don’t know, but he lost 2 games to us. And if we meet [next week], I’m gonna fuck APA again, of course. And maybe I’ll fuck Yeon too. […] I think Yeon is playing really well, but APA just chats so much; sometimes he’s just inting so hard.
Q: Since Game 4 was just a throw, how did you feel about the Game 1 draft that you lost?
River: Yeah, we trolled our 4/5 bans, a lot of [junglers] were banned, so I didn’t have a strong champion. We shouldn’t ban Lee Sin, and then we should pick Xin Zhao into it.
Q: Do you think your hands-diff strategy will work against top teams like C9 and FLY?
River: I think they are strong teams, but I think we are stronger than them. I think for sure we can beat anyone. We can win.
Q: Do you have any trash talk for those other teams?
River: C9 and FLY, we lost to them, so I don’t want to trash talk. But TL and DIG? We 2-0’d them. There’s nothing to trash talk, because we’re just way better. If they want to trash talk to us, they should win a series first.
Q: Who wins C9/FLY?
River: It’s a really close game, but I think FLY will win. I watched their games yesterday and even in losing situations everyone knows how to win. I know [FLY topside] are really good but yesterday, Massu’s performance was really crazy. I don’t think C9 [can win].
Q: What makes this 100T roster so good, when people expected 7th/8th?
River: When I joined, I also thought we would be 7th/8th, but I think our coaches are really good at teaching Meech and Sniper, they improved a lot. And I know how to macro in midgame. That’s why we can win.
And me and our coaches [tell them] every time, “don’t be pressured”. Even if we lose today, it doesn’t matter. Don’t be pressured.
Q: How did you help reset team mental after that game 4?
River: I think Game 5 is really important, I thought FBI would pick Kaisa so we were ready for Game 5 Xayah/Rakan. Our team was sick, me and Eyla are sick, so even if we lost, it doesn’t matter. Everybody already thinks we’re a bad team. If we win, we win. But if we lose, we lose nothing. We improved a lot already. [We had] nothing to lose.
Q: Speaking of improvement, how did your team’s insane aggression style develop?
River: I think everyone is aggressive, and our scrims are always fighting. Because I think if we play slow and for macro, it’s so troll for rookies. Playing for a macro win doesn’t help improve.
Q: So that’s why you perma fight in scrims?
River: Yeah, that’s why I just int so much in scrims. Every time, I call “just fight everything, even if we lose”. That’s why we improved a lot, I think. If we fight together, even if we’re inting, the team [looks good].
Q: You’ve been on teams like this before, but this level of play hasn’t been there before, what’s different?
River: I think Quid and Eyla were really good last year in scrims, but they just had bad performances on stage. I think it’s about pressure.
Q: I hear you play Valorant. Which characters are your favorite?
River: Jett and Reyna […] I was watching [Masters Madrid] before the games. I watched TenZ 1v5 pistol ace.
Q: Do you have a favorite team or player?
River: I was a fan of EG last year but… now I like SEN.
