Post-match interview with 100 Tomo, Aug 3, 2024.

Highlight message to the DSG (Tomo’s previous team) fans.

Tomo: Obviously it’s a really big hit to them, they had to find a replacement really fast because it was a very spontaneous decision. […]

I hope the best for them, having to find a sub this late is rough, but I hope the best for them.

Q: How does it feel coming into 100T on such short notice?

Tomo: I haven’t played with anyone [on 100T], but I know what they’re like — I’ve been in the scene for a while so I knew how they viewed the game, how they wanted to play the game.

Q: Out of game, you seem pretty quiet, but Goldenglue mentioned that you’ve been really vocal in comms — talk about that.

Tomo: I can be a bit quiet outside of the game, but I think in the game I’m always vocal with what I want to do, how I want to progress the game. Being on DSG, I was kind of forced to be in that shotcalling role; telling my team what to do, kind of micromanaging players if they’re in the wrong position. I felt like I was the main force driving the team to progress the game, and coming into 100T when I had the talk with the management, they said that they wanted me to be a vocal person on the team, and I’ll just do what they want me to do. I’ll fulfill that role, you know?

Outside of the game, I’m not really much of a people person, I’m kind of introverted. But everyone is pretty easy to talk to, I deliberately put myself out there and try to interact with them however much I can to try and gain a bond, you know?

Q: How was the whole switch to 100T from DSG?

Tomo: The decision was pretty spontaneous. After the NACL match, […] their management approached me like “Meech is dealing with some shit right now, and we need another player to fly out ASAP”.

Q: You weren’t in LA?

Tomo: No, I live in New York […] I literally went coast to coast. We had that meeting Sunday night, and then the next night I just flew out and had scrims the next day after that.

Q: Speaking of scrims, how is the re-adjustment to LCS scrims?

Tomo: Yeah, I mean the biggest thing is that NACL is mostly driven by strong laners, If you have the better laner, most of the time you’ll win the game. You don’t have to worry about macro and trying to mindgame the enemy.

But in LCS, players are more equal skill level, so the main way you get advantages is trying to make creative plays. Quid and River are really good at that […] The main thing is just that I don’t have much synergy with Eyla, because [only 4 scrim days]

But generally, the team’s really solid. Everyone has strong mechanics and I’m just there to provide a voice and say my opinions.

Q: Do you think ADC is an easier role to slot into a team like this?

Tomo: I think that’s a general stereotype I hear a lot of people say, but as ADC you are farming most of the game, but you also have the most gold on your team. You should be able to do stuff, like create plays. That’s something that I do a lot as a player, I know when to find random angles to do stuff or timings when I’ll be useful and try to do something.

Q: That’s interesting, it’s different from “It’s my job to be stable, and the rest of the team calls for stuff,” since that’s the usual mindset I hear from ADC’s.

Tomo: I don’t disagree with that statement, but it’s just that’s an oldhead mindset. That was probably relevant years ago, but in modern League everyone has to be proactive, everyone wants to be able to do something.

Q: Speaking of the plays, do you think Zeri’s strength is coming from her flex viability?

Tomo: It’s a pretty good flex on our team, because obviously Quid is really good at Zeri — I mean, he’s good at every AD mid. In drafts, people can see if we pick it early it’s gonna flex.

Q: Do you have a message to the DSG fans?

Tomo: Obviously it’s a really big hit to them, they had to find a replacement really fast because it was a very spontaneous decision. It’s pretty sad that I abandoned them like that, but this is a chance a lot of people can’t give up. It’s really unfortunate that they kind of got fucked over because of it, but it was a very hard decision for me and just playing LCS in general was my goal.

I hope the best for them, having to find a sub this late is rough for sure, but I hope the best for them.
