100 Sniper: “Even if 100 Thieves do decide to sell the spot, I still wanna be the best version of myself”

sniper

Q: How is sophomore year Sniper going to heighten the entertainment from last year?

Sniper: Yeah. That’s a pretty good question. I think in year one, I was kinda just being myself. I didn’t really care what anybody thought of me. I was just doing my own thing. And, yeah, I definitely was in contention to be one of the best top laners, but I was just very inconsistent.

So this year, I’m definitely trying to be more consistent because I know at my peak, I’m the best top laner in the league. Maybe top two with Bwipo. In terms of content, I just wanna keep that up. I just wanna keep being myself and just keep interacting with—I don’t even wanna say fans, like, it’s just people who enjoy watching me play, watching my teammates play.

Q: You placed below FLY and TL last year — are you confident you’ll destroy them this year?

Sniper: No, I’m not gonna say that yet. FLY and TL are definitely still good. We did scrim them, and they’re still very good — I definitely think we’ll be at least top three. Like definitely top four, and we’ll probably play for top three, but that’s not enough. But scrims, they’re starting to go good again, and I’m starting to play better and better, more consistently. So, yeah, just look forward to this season, and we’re gonna surprise a lot of people again. It’s gonna be a banger year.

Q: How do you feel about 100 Thieves being a provisional team in the LTA?

Sniper: Honestly, I don’t even think about it too much. I don’t know if you saw that one tweet I made when 100 Thieves tweeted the thing out. I tweeted the LeBron James 1-minute long video, just him dunking on people, [making] a montage on everyone.

And, yeah, even if 100 Thieves do decide to sell the spot, I still wanna be the best version of myself, to be a good top laner, because that’s all I wanna be at the end of the day. So I don’t think about it at all. I’m just living in the moment day by day. Just like how I always am.

Q: What’s your hobby outside of League?

Sniper: Well, I’m not gonna say — there’s one thing. I just know if my teammates watch this, they’re gonna start dying because of it. But, yeah.

Q: There’s something secret that you can’t tell the public?

Sniper: Nah, it’s just like a meme we have on our team, you know?

Q: If you want to include an inside joke, you can.

Sniper: Nah, bro. This is like—this is too personal.

Q: Ah I see, the hobby is all the girls in your DMs.

Sniper: You can say that, bro. You can say that. You know what I mean?

But other than that, I just like chilling by myself. I like going on my phone, like, you know, watching movies, TV shows, playing a bunch of solo queue, and streaming.

Q: What movies and TV have you watched lately? Like, something that you really liked, movie or TV show or whatever.

Sniper: Something I really liked… I recently watched a movie called Lady Bird. I thought that movie was pretty good. I don’t know if you know [it]. […] I’m, like, a really, really big movie fan, you know?

Q: What are your top movies of all time?

Sniper: 100%. Like, there’s too much on my mind, […] I mean, the one on my mind is Memento. That was a really good one. The Machinist, Blade Runner 2049. Inception is really good.

[I’m also] into these high school movies or, the coming-of-age movies as well. Those are the movies I’m down to watch.

Q: You watch a wide range of movies, you’re like a proper cinephile.

Sniper: Oh, that’s what they call it? It sounds like something else.

*interviewer’s note: lmfao

Q: How has it been playing with the team?

Sniper: It’s been nothing but fun and good times. And on top of that, we’re also improving as a team. So River and Quid just keep the map and just everything super stable and they’re just very consistent.

But like I said, I’m not consistent at all, especially when it comes to my mental. My mental has been very good recently. And if I can keep being consistent, we actually have a really good chance at winning [LTA]. But everyone else on the team, Eyla and FBI, have been amazing too. The addition of FBI has been great. And, yeah, it’s just been full of fun vibes, and we’re improving.

Q: Eyla mentioned that FBI helps keep the team mental solid. Has that helped you?

Sniper: Yeah. I mean, you can definitely say that, but I feel like for me, it’s just me against myself. Nobody else can — you can tell me something, but at the end of the day, it’s just me against myself, and I need to figure it out myself.

But FBI — whenever I’m feeling down — he’s always there to lift me up and [the] team spirit.

Q: As top four, are you feeling prepared to go to Brazil?

Sniper: I mean, like I said earlier, I’m just taking it day by day. I realized that literally anything can happen in the future. Anything can happen in a couple of days from now.

Like, back in spring, I thought we were gonna win it all. I thought I was gonna carry — like, me, Quid, and River were gonna carry and just win LCS. But then something happened.

And I realized then that anything can happen, so I’m just not gonna think too far. I’m gonna just take it day by day, and whatever happens, happens, you know? […] I’m still very confident, but that’s just my approach now.

Q: Has Fearless brought you any confidence? How deep is the champ pool?

Sniper: Well, I definitely won’t be playing K’sante every game […] my champion pool has been very good. I’ve been smurfing on a lot of other champions in scrims, and we’re gonna be cooking this year.

Q: Have you been watching Los Ratones, with Baus pulling out stuff like Vi and Kayn top?

Sniper: I mean, the Baus is, like, diamond, I’m pretty sure *laughs*. So, like, I’m not trying to watch that kind of stuff, you know?
