Q: How have you been doing in the 100T ping pong matches?
Quid: I was playing a lot against the coaches during the Korea bootcamp, but since we got back they started getting really good and now they destroy me every time. So I quit.
Q: Despite a great spring performance and a KR bootcamp, 100T took a long time to level up and challenge a top team like FLY. Why is that?
Quid: In Spring, the meta was really easy to engage, so we could fight whenever and whatever we wanted. But I feel like in Summer, we need to play with macro to win, play more slowly. So we keep getting better, and it came out this series.
Q: With this meta, does the smaller mid pool make it harder for you?
Quid: Our coaches just let me play whatever I want, but I feel like in Summer I didn’t read the meta very well. Even today, I thought Zeri mid was un-punishable, so I thought I could just blind pick. But obviously our early games were just too hard the whole series, so I think I need to think about it more.
Q: How do you feel about 100T’s chances fighting for playoffs?
Quid: Hopefully our team doesn’t get pressure from that, because if we make playoffs, we keep getting better and we will be much better by then if we can keep improving. I feel like our team doesn’t play that bad, but I feel like we think we are not that good, [we lack confidence] and that makes it hard. So I hope the team does not feel pressure [for playoffs].
Q: How’s the team’s improvement going behind the scenes?
Quid: Sniper was usually our target for feedback, but now he’s learning and keeps getting better and now he’s started arguing with coaches and players [about the game]. It’s really funny, because sometimes Sniper won’t know if his play was good or not, but then the coaches watch it back and say “Wait, Sniper played fine. What are you guys talking about?”
Q: So you guys will call him out for a mistake and it turns out he was right?
Quid: Yeah, we were talking about communication because Sniper missed an enemy move timer, but then when we listened back, Sniper actually gave all the information. His communication is actually pretty good now, but we always tunnel on his communication, but he’s usually right.
Q: How do you work to teach the rookies on the team?
Quid: I talk to Sniper a lot, especially in mid game about side laning, because we are both on side lanes and I think he needs to improve finding angles for TP, so I try to talk to him a lot. Meech talks more with River/Eyla.
Q: For an end to the interview, have you watched/read/done anything fun lately?
Quid: Not really, I just work out and watch other regions.
Q: So your whole life is League of Legends?
Quid: … yeah.
