100 Eyla: “You want your dopamine, your life goals, and everything to revolve around League. So I stay away from [other hobbies].”

eyla and team

Highlight:

Eyla: I don’t try to get into new hobbies too much because if I get too invested, it’ll [detract] from League. And you want your dopamine, your life goals, and everything to revolve around League. So I stay away from those things.

If you start being satisfied with doing other things and [have fun] doing those other things, it’s really easy to not want to play League anymore because League’s pretty stressful and you have to grind and you have to push yourself hard. So, doing other things and [getting] enjoyment from that will probably shorten your career.

Q: Coming into this year, how was the off-season for you?

Eyla: I mean, the off-season was kinda stressful because my spot on the team wasn’t guaranteed. Like, I think 100 Thieves let me know pretty transparently that I wasn’t guaranteed on the roster. So for a bit of time, I was just waiting and seeing what would happen. And fortunately, I was able to stay on the roster. So as soon as I was told that, it was pretty chill. I just spent time with family and all.

Q: How was your first Worlds?

Eyla: I mean, I’d say I was pretty let down. I had a lot of expectations going to Worlds about how it’d be, and scrimming other good teams and the experience [overall]. But actually, it was kind of the opposite for me. I think over-traveling and, like, having sleeping issues and all that—I think it wasn’t ideal. So I don’t have the fondest memories of Worlds. And then we showed up and lost to R7 and PSG, so…

Q: What are the vibes like on the team now?

Eyla: Yeah. I mean, obviously, we have four people who are staying the same, so I’m very comfortable with them. I don’t think anyone’s changed drastically. Everyone’s still doing the same things, so that’s good.

And then I think having FBI on the team—he’s a really funny guy, he brings the vibes up. A lot of times when things are rough, we don’t have that one person. Maybe Sniper is, but he struggles to do it alone. So I think Vic helps out the team a lot in terms of atmosphere and also in-game—he’s very vocal.

Q: Is that a quality you specifically appreciate or need?

Eyla: I mean, it’s just nice to have. I think I’m more of a person who brings the mood down, because I get really angry when things are going poorly or people are not playing how I expect them to be playing. So I’d say since I’m angry more often than not, it’s nice to have someone to kind of balance that.

Q: What do you do outside of League?

Eyla: Outside of League, I think just for myself, last year was pretty stressful, and I got burnt out towards the end of the year. So for the break, I just focused on actually taking a break and not touching League. For a long time, I was just chilling, playing other games, spending time with my family and friends. So that was fun. And ever since I’ve come back to League, it’s just play all day again.

Other hobbies for me are mostly just playing other games.

Q: What other games are you playing?

Eyla: In the off-season, I played Diablo 2. And also right now, I’m playing this phone game. It’s very old, Kingdoms at War. But I don’t think anyone would know it.

Q: You’re playing Diablo 2 and an old-ass mobile game? Not like any of the new releases—not playing Marvel Rivals or anything?

Eyla: Oh, no. It’s okay. No, it wasn’t—I’m trolling. It’s not Diablo 2. It’s the new one, Diablo 4.

Q: What’s your build in Diablo 4?

Eyla: I tried multiple. I tried Rogue, but it was not fun at all. And I tried Spirit Wolf […] just W, over time you kill everyone.

Q: Are you going into 2025 with a different mindset to avoid the stress?

Eyla: Yeah, definitely. I think last year, I didn’t really have the best work-life balance, so that was a big focus for me during the break—like, just figuring out how I can improve that. I want to make sure I don’t burn out again and still perform at a high level. So for me, this year is about longevity. I want to be consistent throughout the year, not just have moments where I’m doing really well and then dip off.

Q: Is there something specific you’re working on improving in your gameplay or communication?

Eyla: Yeah, for sure. I think last year I struggled a bit with my leadership. I feel like I wasn’t vocal enough in certain situations, and that hurt us at times. So this year, I want to step up and be more of a leader, even if it’s outside my comfort zone. I think Vic coming in has helped with that too because he’s really vocal, and it’s made me realize I can do more in that area.

Q: What about the team as a whole? Are there any specific goals you guys have set? Like, is it just “win everything,” or do you have a more step-by-step approach?

Eyla: I mean, obviously, we want to win everything—that’s the goal for any team. But I think we’re focused on building up to that. We’re not going to be perfect right away, and we know that. So it’s about making sure we improve every week, fixing the small mistakes, and being ready when it really matters.

Q: Makes sense. It sounds like you’re in a good headspace this year. I think that’s all the time we have, but it was great talking to you, Eyla. Anything you want to say to the fans?

Eyla:
Yeah, just thanks to everyone who’s stuck with us. I know last year wasn’t easy, but we’re going to do everything we can to make this year a better one. And thanks for all the support—it really means a lot.

Q: Awesome. Thanks for your time. Good luck this year!

Eyla:
Thank you!
